AZTECH IDE CD-ROM Device Driver for OS/2 Version 2.1 & 2.11

Hardware Requirement for AZTECH IDE CD-ROM Drive
================================================

For OS/2 2.1x system, you need to have another IDE interface card for
IDE CD-ROM drive. You should not connect an IDE CD-ROM drive to the
primary IDE controller card which is connected to your IDE hard disk.

IDE hard disks normally use the primary IDE port (1F0) and IRQ 14. Since
IRQ is not sharable in OS/2 2.1x in ISA bus, you should use the Secondary
IDE port (170) and IRQ 15 for IDE CD-ROM drive if they are available, and
so on.

Installation Method
===================

All installation instructions below are written for a system which is
configured for booting OS/2 from the C: partition. If your boot drive
is other than C:, please substitute your boot drive letter for C:.

If you have an OS/2 version 2.11 upgrade CSD set and would like to upgrade
your system from verion 2.10 to version 2.11, you should first follow
the instructions below to install OS/2 version 2.1 and CDA268-03I, then
upgrade to version 2.11 from OS/2 version 2.11 upgrade CSD set.

I. If you are installing OS/2 version 2.1 or 2.11 Operating System from
the OS/2 compact disc (CD), please begin the installation on step A.

II. If you are installing OS/2 version 2.1 or 2.11 Operating System from a
series of diskettes, please complete the respective installation on
your system first and go on to Step B for installing AZTECH IDE CD-ROM
Drive to an Existing OS/2 version 2.1 or 2.11 System.

III. If you are installing AZTECH IDE CD-ROM Drive to an Existing OS/2
version 2.1 System, please go on to step B.

Troubleshoot CDA268-03I
************************

If your OS/2 version 2.1 or 2.11 system does not recognize CDA268-03I
CD-ROM drive after installation, please check the CONFIG.SYS file for
the following statements. If you do not, add the following statements
to your CONFIG.SYS:

BASEDEV=AZT268I.ADD /P:nnn /I:nn /V
where /P:nnn is the CD-ROM I/O Port Address in Hex
/I:nn is the IRQ number in decimal

DEVICE=C:\OS2\OS2CDROM.DMD /Q
IFS=C:\OS2\CDFS.IFS /Q

Please make sure that you are using the right CD-ROM I/O address for
"nnn" in the "/P:nnn" paramenter and IRQ number in the "/I:nn" parameter
above.

Also, you should have the following files in your C:\OS2 sub-directory.
If you do not, please copy AZT268I.ADD file from the AZTECH CD-ROM
Device Driver Diskette to C:\OS2 sub-directory and

a) If you have the OS/2 compact disc (CD), copy OS2CDROM.DMD and CDFS.IFS
files from OS/2 Diskette #1 to C:\OS2 sub-directory.

b) If you have a series of OS/2 3.5" diskettes, use UNPACK2.EXE on
Diskette #2 to decompress the CDROMREQ file on Diskette #5 to
C:\OS2 sub-directory. The OS2CDROM.DMD and CDFS.IFS are in compressed
file format in CDROMREQ file.
