This file contains additional information about the CD-ROM drive
installation software that was not available at printing time.


General Information
===================

Standard IDE supports up to a maximum of two IDE interfaces. Each IDE
interface can support up to a maximum of two devices, i.e. either 2 hard
disks, 2 CD-ROM drives or a combination of 1 hard disk & 1 CD-ROM drive.
The port address for Primary & Secondary IDE interface is at 1F0H & 170H
respectively.

Primary IDE interface refers to the interface (at 1F0H) on your system
where the IDE hard disk is connected (it can be built-in on the system
motherboard or on a separate I/O card). Secondary IDE interface (at 170H)
refers to the IDE interface on a separate interface card (e.g. the
interface card bundled with this CD-ROM drive, on-board Secondary IDE
interface or the interface on the sound card).


CD-ROM Drive Configuration
==========================

Please note that the IDE CD-ROM drive is factory configured to Single/Slave
drive setting. Therefore, the following points are to be observed during
the installation of the CD-ROM drive :

1.) If you are connecting the CD-ROM drive directly to the provided
interface card or your system's on-board Secondary IDE interface,
no jumper setting is required on either the CD-ROM or hard disk drive.
If the on-board Secondary IDE interface has a hard disk connected,
ensure that it is configured to Master drive setting. Please refer
to your hard disk reference manual for more information.

2.) If your Sound Card has an IDE interface, please install the CD-ROM
drive through the interface on the sound card. Please ensure that the
jumper setting on the sound card is properly configured to IDE CD-ROM
interface. For more information, refer to your sound card user's
manual.

3.) If you are connecting the CD-ROM drive and the hard disk together
through the on-board Primary IDE interface,

a.) Please ensure that your hard disk is configured to Master drive
setting. For more information, please refer to your hard disk
reference manual.

b.) Please also make sure that the following statement is in the
[386Enh] section in the SYSTEM.INI file under WINDOWS directory.

4.) If you are connecting two CD-ROM drives directly to the provided
interface card or your system's on-board Secondary IDE interface,
ensure that one CD-ROM drive is configured to Master drive and the
other to Slave drive setting. Please refer to the CD-ROM drive manual
for more information on how to configure the drives.

In dieser Datei finden Sie zus�tzliche Informationen zur CD-ROM Laufwerk
Installationssoftware, die bei Drucklegung nicht verf�gbar war.


Allgemeine Informationen
========================

Standard IDE unterst�tzt maximal zwei IDE Schnittstellen. An jeder IDE
Schnittstelle k�nnen maximal zwei Ger�te angeschlossen sein, z.B. zwei
Festplattem zwei CD-ROM Laufwerke oder eine Kombination aus einer
Festplatte und einem CD-ROM Laufwerk. Die Portadresse f�r ein prim�res IDE
Interface ist 1F0H und f�r ein sekund�res IDE Interface 170H.

Das prim�re IDE Interface ist der Anschlu� (bei Adresse 1F0H), an dem Ihre
Festplatte(n) angeschlossen ist. Es kann auf dem Mainboard oder auf einer
Controllerkarte eingebaut sein. Ein sekund�res IDE Interface (bei Adresse
170H) ist dann in Ihrem System vorhanden, wenn Sie in Ihrem System vier
AT-Bus Festplatten installieren k�nnen. Sie finden es dann ebenfalls auf
dem Mainboard oder auf der Controllerkarte. Ein zus�tzliches sekund�res IDE
Interface kann auch das auf bestimmten Soundkarten (z.B. Aztech WaveRider
32+) eingebaute sekund�re IDE Interface oder das auf der optionalen
Schnittstellenkarte zum IDE CD-ROM Laufwerk enthaltene Interface sein.


CD-ROM Laufwerk Konfiguration
=============================

Beachten Sie bitte, da� das IDE CD-ROM Laufwerk ab Werk als Single/Slave
Laufwerk konfiguriert ist. Bei der Installation dieses Laufwerks m�ssen
folgende Punkte beachtet werden:

1.) Wenn Sie das CD-ROM Laufwerk direkt an der optionalen Interfacekarte
von Aztech oder an einem anderen sekund�ren Interface in Ihrem PC
anschlie�en, so brauchen keine Jumper ver�ndert zu werden. Wenn am
sekund�ren IDE Interface in Ihrem System bereits eine Festplatte
installiert ist, mu� diese als Master konfiguriert sein. Die korrekte
Jumpereinstellung entnehmen Sie bitte der Anleitung Ihrer Festplatte.

2.) Wenn an Ihrer Soundkarte ein IDE Interface vorhanden ist, schlie�en
Sie das CD-ROM Laufwerk bitte dort an. Stellen Sie sicher, da� mit
dem Jumper auf der Soundkarte die IDE Schnittstelle eingeschaltet
ist. Weitere Hinweise finden Sie im Soundkartenhandbuch.

3.) Wenn Sie das CD-ROM Laufwerk zusammen mit einer Festplatte an einem
prim�ren IDE Interface in Ihrem System anschlie�en wollen, dann
beachten Sie folgende zwei Punkte:

a) Stellen Sie sicher, da� die (einzige) Festplatte als Master
konfiguriert ist. Die korrekte Jumpereinstellung entnehmen
Sie bitte der Anleitung Ihrer Festplatte.

b) Stellen Sie auch sicher, da� die folgende Zeile im Abschnitt
[386Enh] der SYSTEM.INI Datei im WINDOWS Verzeichnis steht:

4.) Wenn Sie zwei IDE CD-ROM Laufwerke an einem vorhandenen sekund�ren
IDE Interface in Ihrem System anschlie�en wollen, so mu� das eine
CD-ROM Laufwerk als Master umkonfiguriert werden, w�hrend das andere
weiter als Slave konfiguriert bleibt. Informationen zu diesem Thema
finden Sie in Ihrem CD-ROM Handbuch.

In diesem Fall kopieren Sie die Zeile DEVICE=(Pfad)SGIDECD.SYS...
in der Datei CONFIG.SYS und editieren die zweite Zeile, so da� die
Namen der Laufwerke unterschiedlich sind. Die Zeilen k�nnen dann
z.B. so aussehen:

(Config.sys)
DEVICE=C:\WR32\DRIVERS\SGIDECD.SYS /D:MSCD001
DEVICE=C:\WR32\DRIVERS\SGIDECD.SYS /D:MSCD002

Editieren Sie dann die Zeile mit dem Aufruf von MSCDEX.EXE in der
Startdatei AUTOEXEC.BAT folgenderma�en:

(Autoexec.bat)
C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /D:MSCD002

Hier reicht also eine Zeile, in der beide Namen genannt werden. Der
Pfad C:\DOS ist hier nur ein Beispiel und kann in Ihrer Autoexec.bat
Datei anders lauten. Auch k�nnen weitere Parameter folgen. Lassen Sie
diese, wie sie sind, f�gen Sie lediglich /D:MSCD002 zus�tzlich ein.
