KEYBALL DOS Driver Version V 1.0 Release Note (Mar/95)

INSTALL THE MOUSE DRIVER FOR DOS & WINDOWS

The Installation Program installs the DOS software.It also
installs mouse drivers for Microsoft Windows.

To run the installation Program,follow these steps.

1.COPY YOUR ORIGINAL PROGRAM DISKS. Write-protect the original
disks, then use the DOS DISKCOPY command to copy your disks.
If you are not sure how to do this,see your DOS user's manual.
Store your original disks in a safe place.

2.INSERT THE MOUSE DRIVER DISK INTO DRIVE A OR B.

3.AT THE DOS PROMPT, TYPE THE LETTER OF THE DRIVE THAT CONTAINS
THE FLOPPY DRIVE IS FOLLOWED BY A COLON (FOR EXAMPLE A: OR B:),
AND PRESS ENTER

4.TYPE INSTALL AND PRESS ENTER.This starts the installation program.

5.FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON SCREEN FOR MOUSE DRIVER INSTALLATION.

6.RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.

The following mouse parameters have been added to the KEYBALL
mouse driver which allow you to configure your mouse to fit
your requirements under DOS.


A. Communication Port ( /n )
------------------------
There are two serial ports generally used on your personal
computer. The relative address and IRQ number are listed in
the table below:

The KEYBALL mouse can be set to any one of the two
communication ports, (COM1 to COM2). To install this driver,
the command format is:


A>MOUSE /n or B>MOUSE /n (Where n = 1 or 2).




B. Software Resolution ( /Am )
---------------------------
There are 9 levels of tracking speed defined in the mouse
driver. Level 1 is the slowest, level 9 is the quickest.

To select the resolution, type the command:

A>MOUSE /Am or B>MOUSE /Am (Where m = 1 to 9, default is 5)



C. Release Mouse Driver ( /R )
---------------------------
You can release mouse driver from memory if you do not need
to use mouse anymore, or you need to get more conventional
memory under 640K.

To release mouse driver, type the command :

A>MOUSE /R or B>MOUSE /R



D. Help Messages ( /? )
--------------------
You can see all of the mouse command sets that mouse driver
supported, just type the command :

A>MOUSE /? or B>MOUSE /?

The mouse driver may support more mouse commands in the next
version, but you still can use this command (/?) to view all
of them.



E. How to use WINDOW LOCK for graphics application ?
--------------------------------------------------
This driver is featured with a window lock function which
allows you to use the trackball easily with one finger in
case of paint and graphics applications under DOS. The trouble
of using two fingers while using other trackballs are removed
by this special driver for KEYBALL when paint or graphics
applications are desired for use.

To acquire such function, simply hold down Left buttom. then
Right buttom . To release this function, simply hold down Right
button.



TEST PROGRAM
---------------
In this driver, Test.exe is to make sure of proper function of
trackball. At DOS prompt, type "TEST;

a>TEST or B>TEST

You may start the test of trackball.

If trackball does not function properly, check the following
status before your access to the dealer for further service.


NOTE:
In many cases, the ball itself and two rubber rollers have to be
cleaned once for a while subject to frequency of use and how
fingers are kept clean while in use.


When you find that cursor can not be controlled as smooth as it
should be by rolling the ball, turn clockwise the plastic ring
which covers the ball, you may take the ball out and clean both
the ball and the two rubber rollers inside the ball room.
