PCtel HSP Modem For WIN95


To setup PCtel HSP modem, you must complete the following
installation procedures.

A. Install drivers.
B. Register HSP modem onto the WIN95 modem registry database.
B.1 Setup communication port.
B.2 Setup Modem Registry Key.
c. Reboot Windows to activate the HSP modem.


A. Install HSP Modem Drivers for WIN95 :
a. Insert PCtel HSP Modem setup diskeet into floppy
drive (A: or B:).
b. Click WIN95 Start button to pull out selection menu.
c. Double click "RUN" button on the selection menu.
d. Type "a:setup" in the Open box and click "OK" button.
e. Follow the setup instruction to install the HSP
Modem drivers.



B. Register HSP modem onto the WIN95 modem registry database.

B.1 Setup COM port for HSP modem:
a.Make sure the PCtel HSP Modem Setup Diskeet still in the floppy
drive bay(A:/B:)
b.Double click "Add New Hardware" ICON on the Control Panel.
(** Note:Do not let the Window search your Hardware **)
c.In the "Hardwae Type" menu select "port" and click "NEXT>".
d.Click on the "Have Disk ..." button.
e.Set the "Copy manufacturer's files form:" box with the setup
diskeet's drive letter (A: or B:) and click "OK" button.
f.It will show "PCtel HSP Modem Communication Port" on the "Models"
box. Click the "NEXT>" button to proceed the installation. The
system will assign the IO and IRQ resource setting for the PCtel
HSP Modem COMM PORT. Again click "Next>" button to allow the
installer to copy the "ptserial.vxd" port driver.
g.Finally click on the "Finish" button to end the "PORT" installation.
(Do not shut down the computer, follow the instructions "B.2" below)
(to install HSP modem before you reboot the system )


B.2 Setup modem registry key for PCtel HSP modem :
a.Make sure PCtel HSP modem setup diskeet is inserted in the
floppy drive bay (A: or B:).
b.From WIN95 Control Panel double click the "Modem" ICON, then
click "NEW" button if you already have modem installed.
c.Check the "Don't dectect my modem, I will select it from a
list" box then click the "NEXT>" button.
d.Click on "Have Disk" button.
e.Specify the Drive that has the SETUP diskeet (A:\ or B:\).
Click "OK" button. System will show the modem model as
"HSP modem". Click "NEXT>" to confirm the choice.
f.From the "PORT MENU" Select "HSP Modem Communication Port" to
use with the modem.Again click "NEXT>" to confirm the choice.
g.Click "Finish" to complete the modem installation.


C. Now, You have completed the drivers and HSP modem registry key
installation. The windows has to restart to activate the modem.
