BIOS UPDATE FOR STINGRAY 128/3DTV
AND STINGRAY 128/3D PRODUCTS WITH FLASHABLE BIOS

The software enclosed is designed to update the BIOS information on
your Stingray 128/3D product. The update program MUST be allowed to
run to completion without interruption.
Failure to do so, or an interruption in power will corrupt the BIOS
and render the Stingray 128/3D unusable.

In the event of an interruption in system operation during the update
procedure, the Stingray 128/3D will most likely cease to display output
to your monitor as the BIOS will need to be restored from a master copy
or replaced with another EEPROM chip. Please call Hercules Technical
Support at 1-800-323-0601 to have the EEPROM chip replaced.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU PRINT THIS FILE and use it for reference for
the installation procedure.

* FILES IN THIS RELEASE *

F430B07.EXE - This is the original BIOS file that was released with
Stingray 128/3D products with a flashable BIOS. This is
the same BIOS code that is currently on your video BIOS.
This file is supplied as a recovery file in the event that
there are problems in your usage of the new Build 11 BIOS
code.

F435B11.EXE - This file contains the new BIOS Build 11 code. By
executing this file, you will load the Build 11 BIOS code
onto your Stingray 128/3D.

* INSTALLATION PROCEDURE *
*************************************************************************

1. Please create a bootable DOS diskette. This may be accomplished from
either a DOS command prompt with FORMAT /S [:d] where :d is the drive
letter of your diskette drive (normally A:), or from the My Computer
icon in Windows 95. If you are formatting a diskette, or copying
system files to a pre-formatted diskette, be sure that either the
"Copy system files" or the "Copy system files only" options are
selected.

2. After a bootable diskette has been created, copy all of the files
from this release to the diskette.

3. Insert or leave the diskette in your A:\ and restart your system
allowing the system to initialize from the diskette drive.

4. The system should start in a DOS screen and you will now have a
DOS prompt of A:\.

5. To update the video BIOS of your Stingray 128/3D product to
Build 11, simply execute the F430B11.EXE file. You will be
prompted to comfirm that you really want to update the BIOS on
your Stingray 128/3D. By answering "Y" the update process will
begin. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE OPERATION OF YOUR SYSTEM while this
update is in progress, doing so may render your Stingray 128/3D
unusable. The update should take about 10-15 seconds.

WARNING: During the execution of the update program, the display image
will vibrate or shake momentarily prior to the completion of
the update. This is a perfectly normal and expected occurance.
There is no need for alarm DO NOT SHUT OFF YOUR SYSTEM or
DISRUPT THE OPERATION OF YOUR SYSTEM when you see this shakey
image.

6. A message will be displayed upon the completion of the update
program. Please remove the diskette from your diskette drive and
restart your system.

7. That's all there is, the BIOS of your Stingray 128/3D has now been
updated.

8. RECOVERY PROCEDURE: Repeat steps 3-6 above substituting the
F430B07.EXE file in Step 5.
