This document provides instructions on how to update the firmware of
the Creative CD-RW drive.

1. To Disable DMA for the CD-RW Drive
----------------------------------
Note: You must disable the DMA option before you update the
firmware.

1) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.

2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the System icon.

3) Click the Device Manager tab of the System Properties dialog box.

4) Double-click CD-ROM and then select the CD-RW drive.

5) Click the Properties button.

6) Click the Settings tab.

7) Make sure that the DMA check box in the Options section is NOT
selected. If it is checked, click the check box to clear it.


2. To Update the Firmware of the CD-RW Drive
-----------------------------------------
1) Use Windows Explorer to browse to the folder where you have
downloaded the files, and then double-click the file "TCR.EXE"
to run it.
The CD-RW Firmware Update dialog box appears and all attached
ATAPI devices are listed.

2) Ensure the following:
- the CD-RW drive is selected in the list box,
- the Bus Type is ATAPI,
- the Create EDC check box is selected.

3) Click the Update button.

4) In the OpenFileDialog dialog box, select the firmware file (with
extension .hex) and then click the OK button.
The Busy Indicator LED of the CD-RW drive lights up first in
yellow and then in orange. Finally it blinks in orange for about
40 seconds.

5) When the LED stops blinking, close the CD-RW Firmware Update
dialog box.

6) Restart your computer.
