FAX/DATA MODEM
INSTALLATION GUIDE


Before the installation , make sure which mode you want to use .

(i) WIN 95 MODE --- Install JP1 ( ref. Jumper Setting )
(ii) DOS MODE --- Remove JP1 (ref. Jumper Setting)


1.- HARDWARE INSTALLATION

a. Installing the Internal Modem into your Personal Computer

1.Make sure that your personal computer is turned OFF before
installing the card.

2.Select a COM port for your modem that is not used by any other
cards in the computer.( dos mode only ref. software installation)

3.Remove the case of your personal computer.

4.Select an empty ISA BUS slot on the motherboard , and remove the
aluminum slot cover on the case using a small screwdriver.

5.Press the fax/ modem card firmly into the selected ISA BUS slot.

6.Insert the screw you previously removed from the slot cover into
the top notch and the screw hole. Check that the telephone jacks in
the back of the modem are unobstructed.

7.Replace the computer case and complete the installation.

b. CABLE INTERCONNECTION

USE MODEM ONLY---

1.Insert one end of the modular telephone cable into the jack labeled
"LINE" and insert the other end into a telephone wall jack.

USE TELEPHONE ALSO ---

2.If you want to have voice conversations on the same telephone line,
you should insert the free end of the cable of a telephone set into
the jack labeled "PHONE" on the rear panel of your Fax/Data Modem.


2.- SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

(i) WIN 95 MODE --- Power on the PC , win95 will find a new hardware
automatically, and request you to insert the
drive disk.After inserting the disk into the FDD,
press " browsing " and execute " mdmalcom.inf "
to complete the software installation.

(ii) DOS MODE --- follow the instructions below

a.COM Port Selection

Before you install your internal modem card into your personal computer you
should select a suitable COM port for it. Make certain that no other
interface cards in your computer use the same COM port. For example, if you
have a RS-232 card in your computer that supports both COM1 and COM2 then
you should not choose these COM ports for your Fax/Data Modem card. You may
use either COM3 or COM4 only. Most Fax/Data Modem software can support all
four COM ports in your Fax/Data Modem card. However, some software will only
support COM1 or COM2. Check your software manual to find out which COM port
can used.

The internal modem card support 8 interrupts, those are IRQ3, IRQ4, IRQ5,
IRQ7, IRQ10, IRQ11, IRQ12 and IRQ15. You can choice the interrupt which you
want to combine with I/O address.

COM port's I/O address and interrupt switch setting as follow:
(If operating in Windows 95 mode, short the setting jumper and ignore the
following steps.)



1.Open the setting jumper. (jumpless mode)

2.Put the modem card in computer's slot.

3.Execute "setcom.exe". A operating procession will be showed on the
montior.

4.Move Bar to "Configuration" and press "Enter" to choose the
configuration function.

5.Move Bar to "Modify COM port" and press "Enter" to enter COM port
selection mode.

6.Move Bar to select the COM port and press "Enter".


7.Move Bar to "Modify IRQ" and press "Enter" to enter IRQ selection
mode.

8.Move Bar to select the IRQ and press "Enter".


9.Move Bar to "save Configuration" and press "Enter" to save your
setting in EEPROM.

10.Move Bar to "Quit" and press "Enter".


11.Move Bar to "Accept & Exit" and press "Enter" to quit the
installation program.

12.The installation is achieved.
