RAMBIOS device driver:

- RAMBIOS SYS ...a program to speed up video read and write operation.

Put DEVICE=RAMBIOS.SYS as the first device driver command in CONFIG.SYS
file. It should be installed before any other device driver in order to be
compatible with most application programs.

- RAMBIOS EXE ...a program for AUTOEXEC.BAT or under dos prompt.

UANSI device driver:

- UANSI SYS ...an enhanced standard input and standard output
device driver

Include DEVICE=UANSI.SYS in CONFIG.SYS file. This command causes DOS
to replace the standard input and output support by the extended
SuperVGA features.

SMOOTH/JUMP scrolling utility:

- SMOOTH COM ...smooth scrolling
- JUMP COM ...jump scrolling

To obtain a better result, system speed should be 8 MHz or up. Type
"smooth" at DOS prompt, the display will be changed to smooth scrolling
screen, or type "jump" at the DOS prompt, display will be toggled to
jump scroll when speed is preferred.

ENABLE16/ENABLE8 16 or 8 bits enable utility:

- ENABLE16 COM ...enable 16 bits read/write on the text mode.
- ENABLE8 COM ...enable 8 bite read/write on the text mode.

To obtain a better result, system will be under 16 bits R/W. If it is
concerned with the compatibility to IBM standard VGA, the 8 bits R/W
to obtain a better result.

Set mode and Diagnostic utility:

- UVGA EXE ...a menu driven mode switching utility

This set mode and diagnostic program allows you to select and preview
any mode that is available to your configuration. You may run this
program either directly from the DOS prompt or from a menu.

USAGE ::

1) UVGA
Type this command at the DOS prompt, you are entering a menu-
driven set mode program. There are six menus, and you will be
entering one of these menus depending on the monitor and the
switch setting of the SuperVGA adapter.

2) UVGA -KEYWORD
For instance GVGA -V13 , you are entering the 320x200
256-color graphics mode.
To return to the default mode use: UVGA -V3

3) UVGA [MDA, CGA, HCD]
UVGA [AON, AOFF]
All the backward compatibility support, including MDA/Hercules,
CGA and CDOS (Chinese applications based on Hercules), are listed
in each UVGA menu. These features can be enabled by either using
the syntax mentioned above or simply enter AON (Auto Display ON)
or AOFF (Auto Display OFF) to enable or disable all backward
support.

4) UVGA [60,70,6,7]
The Flicker-Free feature in the UVGA increases the vertical
refresh rate of 640x480 mode from 60 Hz to 70 Hz.

5) UVGA [R0,R1,R2,R3,R4,R5,R6,R7,R8]

Extended clear screen utility:

- CLEAR COM ...clear screen function for UM85C408 extended mode

The DOS 4.0 clear screen command, CLS only clears a portion of the screen
under extended modes. For DOS 4.0 users, please use CLEAR.COM instead of
CLS to clear the whole screen.

Copy this file, CLEAR.COM, to the root directory of your boot drive,
and set a PATH to root. Therefore, you can use CLEAR.COM wherever
you want to.

AutoCAD R9.0 - R12.0 driver: (with dual screen)

Installation Procedures,

(1) Install AutoCAD 9.0/10.0/11.0/12.0 follows normal AutoCAD
procedures.

(2) Invkoe AutoCAD by typing ACAD at the DOS prompt.

(3) From the AutoCAD main Menu, select option number 5,
"Configure AutoCAD".

Enter selection : 5
Press RETURN to continue:

(4) From the AutoCAD Configuration menu, select option number 3,
"Configure video display".

Enter selection <0> : 3
Type "Yes" to select a new display.

(5) From the Available video displays, select number 1 for
"ADI display".

Select device number ......: 2
Hexadecimal interrupt code (INT 0XXh) <7A> :

Answer your preference options Yes, No or accept the default
by pressing .

(6) From the Configuration menu, select number 0,
"Exit to Main Menu".

Enter selection <0> :
Keep Configuration changes?

(7) From AutoCAD Main Menu, select number 0,
"Exit to AutoCAD".

Enter selection : 0

(8) Copy all drivers for AutoCAD
to AutoCAD 9 10 or 11 directory.

(9) Execute "ct1280.EXE" for the 1280x1024x16 color
resolution mode, e.t.c.

Argument i changes the background color to black.
You need to install this driver once at every power up.

(10) Type "ACAD" to run AutoCAD.
To run AutoCAD with two monitors, type "Mode Mono" to switch to
the secondary monitor, and then type "ACAD".

RBG.TXT is a text file with 16 lines. Each line has 5 characters on it:
3 digits separated by 2 spaces.
The digits represent color intensities and can be values of: 0,1,2 or 3
for 16 colors modes and values of 0 or 1 for the 4 color mode.
The first digit is the intensity of Red,
the second digit is the intensity for Green and
the third digit is the intensity for Blue.
Each line represents a color index. The first line represents index 0.
The 16th line represents index 15. In the 4 color mode, index 0 to index
3 are the only available colors. Index 5 and index 7 are the border and
background in this mode, and can be any of the first 4 colors.
Each line (including line 16) ends with a carriage return.
R G BÄÙ
The file size should not be over 127 bytes. The file should be on the
directory where you execute Autocad. If the file is not there, the
driver will use the default values.

Installation Procedures,

(1) - (7) Follows step (1) to (7) in AutoCAD 9.0/10.0 setup
procedure to install your AutoCAD.

(8) Copy all drivers for AutoCAD for AutoCAD 2.5 version
to AutoCAD 2.5 directory.

(9) Execute "DS121k.EXE" to install the 1280x1024x16
colors resolution driver.

DSxx [i]

Argument i changes the background color to black.
You need to install this driver once at every power up.

(10) Type "ACAD" to run AutoCAD.

AutoShade 2.x driver:

From AutoShade's Installation & Performance Guide p.8 -- "We do not
recommend that you run AutoCAD and AutoShade at the same time under DOS".
We recommend that you may create your .FLM file under AutoCAD use AutoCAD
driver. Reboot the system, install one of these two AutoShade drivers to
display picture on the screen.

Installation Procedures,
(1) Install the AutoShade program.

(2) Copy all drivers for AutoShade to AutoShade
directory.

(3) Execute "RD1024.com" to install 1024x768x256 colors display

(4) Type SHADE or SHADE -R to configure or reconfigure AutoShade.

>> SHADE -R

(5) a) From the Select display device, select option number 1,
"AutoDesk Device Interface display driver".

Display selection : 1

b) From the Select rendering display device, select option 1,
"AutoDesk Device Interface Rendering driver".

Rendering Selection : 1

c) Do the display and rendering devices share a single
screen (default = NO): Y

Does FLIPSCREEN require a redraw (default = NO): Y

(6) Now, you may enter AutoShade display screen.

Install Ventura Publisher according to the Ventura Publisher manual.

To install high resolution driver :

(1) Insert UMC Utility & Driver Diskette in
drive A, change directory to A:\GEMVEN\.

(2) For Ventura Publisher 2.0 :
Run VP86-2.BAT for the 800x600x16 colors driver.
Run VP1K-2.BAT for the 1024x768x16 colors driver.
Run VP7K-2.BAT for the 768x1024x16 colors driver.

(3) For Ventura Publisher 3.0 :
Run VP86.BAT for the 800x600x16 colors driver.
Run VP1K.BAT for the 1024x768x16 colors driver.
Run VP7K.BAT for the 768x1024x16 colors driver.

Installation Procedures
(1) Install GEM/3 according to the GEM/3 manual.

(2) Insert UMC Utility & Driver Diskette in

Run GEM800.BAT for the 800x600x16 colors driver.
Run GEM1024.BAT for the 1024x768x16 colors driver.

Follow the instructions to install your high resolution driver.

a) Be sure your driver for GEM/3 is in current directory.

b) Press GEMxxx.BAT at DOS prompt.

c) Use arrow to select '1 - Digital Research GEM/3', and
press or press '1' directly.

d) Acknowledge all setting.

e) Press '5' to exit to DOS.

LOTUS 1-2-3 2.01, 2.20 & SYMPHONY 2.0 text drivers.

- 132xALL DRV ...all resolutions text driver
(include 132x25/29/32/44/60 and 80x25)

Installation Procedures,
(1) Install your Lotus 123 or Symphony program.

(2) Copy driver file, 132xALL.DRV, to Lotus 123 or Symphony directory.
Delete SINGLE.LBR, if it exists.

(3) Run Lotus installation program to change text display driver
to UM85C408's 132 columns driver.

Follow the simplified instructions as below:
a. From the Main Menu, select "Advanced Option".

b. Select "Add New Driver to Library" Option.

c. Go back to the Main Menu.

d. Select "Advanced Options" again

e. Select "Modify Current Driver" Option.

f. Select "Text Display" Option.
Select "UMC SuperVGA Bd (132x25/29/32/44/60)".

g. Go back to the Main Menu, Save changes and Exit.

This completes the installation of your LOTUS drivers.

When you enter "123", "LOTUS" or "SYMPHONY" use "Ctl-A" and follow the
instructions on the pop-up menus to switch text mode.

WordPerfect 5.0/5.1 graphics drivers.

Use the following steps to install the driver :

(1) Copy CT1216.WPD, CT1K16.WPD, CT816.WPD
CT6256.WPD CT8256.WPD CT1K256.WPD to the WP50 directory,
and copy WPCTK16.VRS, WPCTK256.VRS to the WP51 directory.

(2) Type "WP" to start WordPerfect.

(3) Within the Document screen, press Shift-F1 to enter to
SETUP screen.

(4) From SETUP screen, select Display option.

Selection : [3, D]

(5) From Display menu, select Graphics Screen Type

Selection : [5, G]

(6) Use Up-Down arrow key to seclect color graphic mode.

(7) Press ENTER to ensure your selection.

(8) Press EXIT (F7) to return to the Document.

Now, you may (1) Press Print (Shift-F7) to display the Print menu,
then (2) Select View Document (press "6" or "v") to show the document,
which is based on the graphics mode you set, on the screen.

(1) Copy FWxx.SC to your FW directory.

(2) Type "SETUPFW [ENTER]" at DOS prompt under FW directory.

(3) Choose the FW menu option 2.

(4) Select a proper location for the FWSETUP file

(5) Select the configuration option.

(6) On the configuration menu, choose the primary
hardware option.

(7) Select in order, screen driver and I want to enter
my own driver file name. Then enter the name of the driver
you want to use.

Installation Procedures,

(1) Copy the all .DRV files from the UMC utility & drivers diskette to
PCAD directory and then install an appropriate driver.

(2) You also must make sure that the SIBMPC.DRV and IMOUSYS.DRV are
both in the PCAD directory, if not copy them into the PCAD
directory.

(3) Install an appropriate driver.

For example: If you install PCAD!K!^.DRV as your driver, then you
should do the following steps.

(a) Type SYSTEM C:\PCAD\SIBMPC.DRV
INPUT C:\PCAD\IMOUSYS.DRV
DISPLAY C:\PCAD\PCAD1K16.DRV

By any editor utility, and save them at the root directory by
the name PCADDRV.SYS.

(b) Change directory to PCAD by typing CD\, C:\PCAD at DOS prompt.

(c) Type PCCARDS at DOS prompt and .

OK !!! Driver has installed.

True Color Mode Setting Procedure:

In order to use the true color ramdac please follow the procedure
to enter the true color mode.
After completing the mode setting you may program the display memory
by arranging colors in the order of R,G,B, i.e. 3 bytes per pixel
are required to fill the memory.
Currently, the hardware can support true color mode up to 640x480
with colors of 16M, if 1M DRAM and true color RAMDAC on board.
