Installing a new INF file for WIN 95
Copy the .INF file to a floppy disk. From the Desktop, click START, SETTINGS,
CONTROL PANEL, double click SYSTEM. SYSTEM PROPERTIES is now open.
Select DEVICE MANAGER, expand the MODEM branch. Double click the Cardinal
modem. Select DRIVER, click CHANGE DRIVER, click HAVE DISK. Windows 95
will prompt you to insert the floppy disk with the .INF file into the floppy
drive. Insert the disk and click OK. This will install the new driver file.
If you do not have a DRIVER tab, click CANCEL to return to DEVICE MANAGER.
Highlight the Cardinal modem, click REMOVE. Click CLOSE/OK to exit DEVICE
MANAGER. Open Windows Explorer: click START, PROGRAMS, WINDOWS EXPLORER.
Select VIEW, OPTIONS, VIEW. Check SHOW ALL FILES and uncheck HIDE MS DOS
FILE EXTENSTIONS, click APPLY and OK.
Open WINDOWS\INF directory and remove any files starting with OEM, contain a
number, and end in .INF
Example: OEM1.INF, OEM9.INF, etc.
Delete all of these files by dragging them to the RECYCLE BIN. When they are
deleted, shut down and restart the computer.
If your modem is plug & play, Windows 95 will prompt you during boot up to
install DISK PROVIDED BY HARDWARE MANUFACTURER. If you do not have a plug
& play modem, go to your CONTROL PANEL, ADD NEW HARDWARE. Click NEXT, NO,
NEXT, MODEM, NEXT, DON'T DETECT MY MODEM, NEXT, HAVE DISK, Windows 95 will
prompt you for the Manufacturer's Installation Disk. Insert the disk containing
the new .INF file and click OK.
Your new driver is now installed.
