Seems a lot of people are having this issue lately. I searched the forums for a link to the "Everest" program to give proper machine specs, but the only link I found says that it has been "moved to members-only because of auto-bots", so I'll have to go from memory.

I have a Gateway (yes, I know, ew Tongue) model GT5032 dual-core AMD Athlon running Windows XP, with an nVidia GeForce 6100 video card. That's all I remember or know how to find about my system. I've searched on so many websites trying to find where to get the drivers for this silly thing, and have been run in so many circles I no longer know which way is up. One website told me I had to download drivers for "ATI Unified AVStream Driver", which did nothing. Other people have referred me to the Gateway website - they say there's nothing listed for my model number. I'm not even sure if it's the drivers or some sort of software I need, as I can't reproduce the original error message - it popped up a window just after my desktop loaded telling me I needed to load something for this, and it wanted a CD or for me to pick somewhere to load it from; I had it search for the files on its own and it told me none existed for it, but I don't know what "it" is and I no longer get that window upon loading.

All of this started after I had a video card error with a window that told me to update my drivers for it. I went to the nVidia website, searched for my video card type, and downloaded what I thought were the proper drivers. I was unable to play my game after that, so I went in to delete the drivers so I could get them again and see if a fresh install would fix it. Things have gone downhill from there, but everything else seems to be fine aside from this "video controller (VGA compatible)" nonsense.

Websites are choppy as I scroll through them, and my screen resolution seems slightly off but I can handle that. My main concern is that I can no longer play my online games, and it's driving me bonkers. Please, someone, help me figure out what the heck I need! Sad
