I am running Windows XP Pro and have a HP LaserJet 1100 connected to the LPT1 port. I send something to print, in any program, & it won't print. I've reinstalled the driver and it's working properly. I can print from the dos prompt but not from Windows. I've gone through the troubleshooter and nothing helps. It sits in que, with no status info, and will sit there until I cancel the print job. It just never goes to the printer. Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance, DK
i have seen this happen time and time again.
has it been blocked by your firewall, norton is really bad at doing that it blocks the printer port and all docs stay on the pc waiting to print.
start the pc in safe mode , access your firewall and tell it not to start with the pc.
restart in normal windows and reinstall your printer once more.
now see if you can print.

Thanks for the info. I'll try it this evening when I get home from work and I'll let you know if it works. / DK

Well, I tried this option and it still doesn't work. Now I can't even print from dos. I don't know what's happening, but something is really misconfigured. Any other suggestions?

check the printer port settings in your bios.
see if changing it to spp helps.
also check your printer cable for tightness and wear.
