i have a cd-rw and a dvd-r and whenever i insert a cd in any of these drives for a few seconds i see a cd next to my cursor on the screen but after that nothing happens can anyone tells me whats wrong?i see a cd next to my cursor/pointer/mouse on the screen like its loading or reading and it happens for 10sec after that nothing happens and when i go to my computer and click on cd drive i go in the cd drive and there is nothing in there its empty but when i try it on different computer all the files are in cd and you can see them but not in my computer.so plz help.

do these drives do that on a music cd and a normal game cd/dvd ?

if not i think i know whats going on.

is the disk your trying to read a open cdrw/dvdrw disk that your still writing files to ?
if that is the case you need to load up your burning software ( roxio , nero )
these drives can not read a open disk thats still in use they can only read a closed disk without the software installed.

I feel your pain. I'm having the same problem. My new DVD-RW/CD-RW drive won't read CD-ROMs, does the same thing. If I find anything I'll post back.
