I plugged in new headphone with mic last night.
This morning I have no sound from my Toshiba Laptop.
I desperately need it. I am taking a class in creating a Utube video in 5 days.
I must work all day, but will check for responses tonight.
plug the headphones in again and see if you have sound.
if you do take them out but as you take them out give the socket a little shack in case the cutout switch has got stuck
if you have no sound on the headphones check in device manager for a problem with the soundcard.
if you find your sound is now listed as a problem remove its driver from add remove programs and reinstall it.
now i am just about to go to bed its night time here ( late )
i will leave you with this advice as you may needed it and i can't log back in tonight or infact till the weekend.
if your sound does have a problem you will need the full model number found on the laptops sticker on its base.
enter that number or search for that model number here at toshiba.

you should be able to find a update driver for the sound at the above link.
Thank you for taking the time for my problem. I woke up the next day, turned on the computer and the sound was there. Mind you I plugged in the headset. took it out. Turned off the computer. The next day no sound. turned of the computer. The day turned it on and there was sound.
I am glad I don't have to go through the driver reinstallation, but it is a bit scarey to think, "This could happen again. Computers, UGH!
