Hi all!
I have an issue I have no idea how to deal with. Perhaps your combined knowledge can help me out here...
About 6 months ago I bought a HP laptop (Compaq nc6400) that runs Win XP (I didn't want Vista just yet).
When I tried to install my usb webcam on it, that wouldn't work. I couldn't figure out what the problem was, but since it was a very cheap webcam anyway, I kind of lost interest and thought that it was probably the camera.
Now I got myself a USB card-reader (the type that reads SD and all the other formats). I did this because the built-in sd card reader does not seem to work (it just doesn't do anything) - perhaps there is already a hint in that. This thing is supposed to be auto-detected and auto-installed, but sure enough, it doesn't do that. When I plugged it in, Windows gave me a notice that there was a problem installing. After that, nothing (the times I plugged it in after that it doesn't even tell me that).
I now suspect there is a problem with my usb ports, even though memory sticks, printers, and external hard drives work ok.
Could anyone confirm that this might be the problem, and lead me to a solution how to tackle this?
Many thanks!
