Hi,
I'm posting because of frustration trying to repair a problem that I don't even really thoroughly understand.
I have a Compaq Presario v5000 which came with XP installed. In September I upgraded to Vista Ultimate, which I thought was great up until very recently.
My USB ports starting acting strangely, not detecting flash drives, reporting errors on my iPod, and no longer connecting my printer.
I tried my flash drive at the older computers at work and it was fine; I did the same for my iPod...also fine.
I dug around online and tried uninstalling the USB drivers but then couldn't find them to reinstall.
I'm not even sure what's wrong...all I knew was as of December 21st, I was printing just fine from my home printer. Now, the computer won't detect my printer, and the iPod problem has been happening for roughly the same amount of time.
Compaq hasn't created USB Controller drivers for Vista yet, but at some point it WAS working, so there must be a solution...correct??
Any suggestions?
Oh, when I've gone to the Canon website to dowload the driver for my printer, at the end I get an error message saying I require Vista-32 bit to install it...WHICH I DO!!!
I'm thoroughly frustrated.....
