I have a SuperMicro X5DAE mobo with 2Gb RAM, NVIDIA G-Force FX5700 graphics card and 3ware card (use it to connect my SATA drives).
The original PSU (Ablecom SP450-RP) died and I replaced it with a new one (Antec True 550).
The beeping noise came on immediately as soon as I switched the power on.
Any help???
when a psu blows it can and does blow other hardware as it will surge the motherboard as it pops.
one long bleep is the cpu.
check the cpu was not damaged.
if its a p4 make sure you have connected the p4 power supply its a four pin 2 yellow and 2 black square.
if thats not connected on a p4 board it will give you that bleep as well.
one other thing clear the bios cmos.
the best way to do that after a psu problem is like this.
remove the main power lead.
take the case off the computer and look for a coin sized battery on the motherboard.
take that battery out and walk away for a few hours allow the motherboard to discharge fully.
replace the battery , case , power lead and power the pc.
after that its a case of get the hardware tested and don't trust anything.
i have seen people rush out and by a new motherboard and cpu
put the old memory and video card in and blow out the new board.
