Canon will not make a driver that would allow MPC200 multifunctional scanners to run under Vista Sad.
Do anyone have a solution for this problem?
Is there a software genius out there that can modify the existing driver so my MPC200 can run under Vista?
It can't be that difficult, or what?
If anyone out there could help, I would be very thankful!Smile
I would pay if someone could fix this.
try and load what driver set you have with the Compatibility Wizard built in vista.

how to find that and use it can be found here at my own site as i wrote this a while back.

What is funny is that the vista Upgrade advisor 1.0 lists my Canon MPC200 under hardware that will run automatically after installing Vista. Its comment is "no action necessary" for my Canon MPC200.
Canon support said that it will not function under Vista since they have not made a Vista driver for it, so the Vista Upgrade Advisor must be wrong.
Microsoft technical support said the same, but they also said they had not tried the Canon MPC200 in a Vista enviroment.
A new similiar multifuncional printer will cost about 150-200$, so I better be sure before I upgrade to Vista.
if you want to be sure ask your friends if any of them have a vista laptop.

just see if the Compatibility Wizard gets you out of trouble.
that way you know if you can upgrade or not.

did you try the mircosoft Upgrade Advisor or the less then helpful touchstone version ?

if you used the touchstone version its crap thats because its linked to the ever hopeless driver agent.
one program that always say's there are updates to your usb and video cards even when you know full well you have two version above what they say.

when it comes to updates in o/s mircosoft is the place to go.

I have used Microsofts Vista Upgrade advisor 1.0.
Good Idea, I will try to ask one with a laptop with Vista to see if my MPC200 will run on it.
thank you for your advice Smile
