Hi all, thanks to those who veiw and respond to this post. For a couple of years I have had this problem and no one can seem to figure it out. I use a "NEC DVD RW ND 3520A" through a USB external drive case With a DEll Demnsion 3000 purchased in 2004. When I bought the USB drive and DVD burner it was already put together. It worked perfectly for about 6-7 months. all of a sudden it would burn really slow and I would have to shut down the DVD Burner unplug and plug it back in. This would solve the issue for about 3-4 days, then I would have to do again. Now when I shut down my PC and start it up again I get the USB symbol in the start tray in stead of the green arrow and it shows up as an unkown device in the Device manager. If I burn a movie and immediately unplug it and plug it back in it will then recognize it and burning speeds are back to normal. At slow speeds it takes almost 1hr 45min to copy a home video that is already in DVD format. What does anyone think. Also, I haven't updated the driver since I have had it, because I get mixed answers about updating through USB. Some say you can some say you can't. Please give me any feedback you can give. Sorry for the long wind. Thanks a million.
