I own a Toshiba 2435 S255 with windows XP, SP2. I started to hear heavy clicking in the hard drive and decided to replace it because I didn't want it to fail in the middle of work. I use this lap top for web surfing and word processing only.

I replaced the hard drive (Toshiba MK4018GAS) and I still hear mild clicking. It is in the same area, right above the hard drive. What else could this be due to? The fans are not in that area, and they are running fine.

Thanks,

Tyler
you may just have another bad drive, sounds silly when you just bought a new one but its not impossible.

if you have a ex case try the drives in that,
if they click its the drive if it don't click you may have a bad ide or sata controller in the laptop.

light clicking as the drive is reading is normal, heavy clicking and slow laptop is a sign all is not well
