Ok this is a strange problem. First off..

I am running Vista 32.

I am using a Sony DDU1615 DVD-Rom and a Sony AW-Q170A.

I recently built this computer and it has been problem free, until I tried to install my first DVD based game. The Autorun for the game gives me the install menu, but anytime I try to access the disk through the autorun menu I get the Vista Blue Screen of death error and I get to reboot.

I then attempted to access the disk manually and it tells me I need to insert a disk. It's as if the drive won't acknowledge DVD's. Also both drives are doing this. It appears to be a driver issue.

the drives are a Sony/NEC joint venture hybrid and there are no drivers I can find. Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve flammable materials, or 10lb sledge hammers?
did you install your motherboard drivers for windows vista ?

if you have done a upgrade from xp to vista its best to load up the vista version of your motherboard drivers.

Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve flammable materials, or 10lb sledge hammers? oh i like that one , i tend to use my fist when i have had enough , done two lcd screens like that.
fully lost my temper ( not with the pc ) and stuck my fist right through the screen,
all i can say is don't do that it hurts like hell and you need stitches and a new monitor.
I have the same problem. If you have figured it out please let me know.
