Hello all,

I don't know if this particular question has been asked and answered or not... but I've googled till I have google-eyes now, so if anyone can help me that'd be great.

Question is this: where can I find the most up-to-date XP drivers for my laptop. It came with Vista, Vista sucks, Vista going bye-bye ASAP.

Laptop specs:
Product Name:  dv9308nr
US Product Number:  RU974UA#ABA
Microprocessor:  1.6 GHz AMD Turion64 X2 Dual-Core TL-52
Motherboard: Quanta 30B9 65.28 -- possibly an nForce Go 430 chipset?
Memory:  1024MB DDR2 (2 Dimm)
Video:  NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA)
HDD:  TOSHIBA MK1234GSX SCSI Disk Device 120GB (5400RPM) SATA
DVD-R/W:  TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632M ATA Device LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±R/RW
Display:  17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition Widescreen (1440 x 900)
Fax/Modem:  In-Build Conexant Type 2 High speed 56k
NIC:  Integrated 10/100BASE-T NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
Wireless: Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN
Sound:  Conexant High Definition Audio w/ Altec Lansing speakers
Keyboard:  101-key compatible
Mouse: Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad
Other devices:
RICOH OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
Microsoft AC Adapter
Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
HID-compliant device
HP Quick Launch Buttons
HID Keyboard Device
Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad [Mouse]
SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller
USB Root Hub (2x)
Generic volume shadow copy

HP autodetection no longer works -- dunno why.
Need drivers for: CPU, chipset, video, modem, WLAN, Sound (also need updated MS UAA bus driver), QuickPlay buttons, 1394 Net adapter, and Ricoh xD/MMC card reader.

I have XP Pro SP2, and Synaptics driver.

I know: I need to go look on the Net... been there done that, please help a brother out? My plan is: slipstream into a clean XP install, then to collect/compile the updated drivers and make available on limewire/bittorrent or something for the next poor sucker who gets an HP vith the Vista virus! Thanks, feel free to email me links etc to the drivers or post out loud. I'm fairly computer savvy, and will clarify as best as possible if any questions on hardware. Thanks y'all!
Here's a few:

Chipset:
To find your exact chipset driver, go to cpuid.com and download the latest version of CPU-Z, extract and run the program and open the Mainboard tab.

Looking at this screen, you'll see the two fields labeled Chipset and Southbridge.  As you can see here, the chipset I was running the program on was a GeForce 6150.  The Southbridge is a nForce 410/430, so I'll assume either of those drivers will work.  All nvidia chipset drivers are listed under nForce, so with this information you can find your driver here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

As you can see, the driver I chose was the GeForce 6150LE / nForce 430

Chipset drivers install onboard ethernet, SMBus and MediaShield (AKA activearmor firewall).

1394 should have been loaded by Windows XP or SP2

Display driver (graphics card):
Since you already know your graphics card, I won't go over how to find out what it is.  On the same page of the nvidia website (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us), select
Product type: GeForce
Series type: GeForce 6 Series
and download the driver.  *NOTE* When I looked in the GeForce Go section, the 6 series was not listed, so I am assuming that you can just use the regular 6 series driver (which does list the 6150 as a supported product).  If you want to look for your driver elsewhere, you can try http://www.omegadrivers.net/
I'm on a military internet connection and can't load their website, so that one's on you.

You can find everything else you need on HP's Software & Downloads section here:

OPTION 1:
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/supp...ay=drivers

Select the Download drivers and software (and firmware) button, type in your model and search, pick your exact model, choose your operating system and download the drivers you want.

For example, I searched for "pavillion 9420" and picked HP Pavilion dv9420us Notebook PC

The Windows XP drivers available for my laptop included:
- HP Quick Launch Buttons
- HP 1.3 MegaPixel (MP) Webcam Software Drivers
- Synaptics Touchpad
- HP Optical USB Mobile Mouse Driver
- Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver
- HP Wireless Assistant
- WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS (for Notebooks with AMD processors) - Microsoft Windows/Vista-Based
- LightScribe Host Software

OPTION 2:
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/supp...ay=drivers

If the laptop you want drivers for is the one you're using, you can select "Automatically detect product names/numbers" by hitting the "Start Detection" button

Didn't have time to look for the card reader drivers.

Couldn't find (need more detailed hardware info):
- Audio
- Modem
- Expansion slot

The exact devices shown missing drivers on the system BEFORE installing video drivers are:
- Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Base System Device
- Base System Device
- Base System Device
- Coprocessor
- HP Integrated Module
- Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Unknown Device
- Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

CPUs don't need OS drivers (in Windows, at least).
Did you get any more information on how to get the audio drivers?

Altec Lansing Conexant High Definition Audio this is probably what he has and I am having the same problem with a friends laptop.
I now have microsoft signed drivers direct from microsoft for both the conexant sound and nvidia go 6150 which have been tested on hp laptops and do seem to work.
