I can see I am not alone with my refusal to accept Vista on my new laptop. Have Toshiba M100 I bought in China. Happy to find a bunch of drivers for XP sp2 on the Toshiba website - most seem to work fine.
Had to use another audio driver that works except for one thing.
Sound works fine except when the CD/DVD drive is working. Then I get a crackling, jittery noise that is intolerable. (In other words I can rip songs and play them fine after I take out the CD.) Called Toshiba and they suggested that the audio driver I downloaded may not be right for my Asia hardware. Then they suggested I try other drivers for other M100 and M105 models. No luck.
Any ideas? Doubt it is the hardware but a little puzzled. In Device Mgr I have an exclamation on my Modem on High Def Audio Bus but my main audio driver has been accepted.
