Hello world!

I just bought an Asus F3E laptop and a Vista Business 64 (this laptop comes 'naked'). The laptop's cd with drivers support only 32bits version and the autorun stops. I installed manually as much drivers I could and I have now a 'working' laptop. But a lot of features are not working, and the os keeps complaining about 'ACPI ATK0100'...
Asus is not very responsive (although their site recommends Vista Business without discriminating between 32/64).
Please, can somebody help me?

TIA,
Emanuel Ionescu
ACPI power is covered by your motherboard drivers.
have you loaded up your main chipset drivers ?

Thank you for being envolved!
Yes, I instaled every driver I could. The autorun of the suplied cdrom with drivers stoped, complainig about OS being on 64bit. So, I run one-by-one every 'setup' program. Except the ACPI driver problem, I don't have sound, bluetooth, wireless, the included webcam etc.

ok i will try and track down some drivers for you but it may take me a while to find anything but i will post back with what i can come up with

Hello,

Just to share a late (indeed 'late') experience:
It seems that the sound is not working after a cold start, but awakening after a hibernation makes the sound system audible. Which is a reverse case of a common problem on forums, with audio ok before hibernation and dumb after...
What I do last night was to reinstal th OS (vista business 64), do a 'windows update' which brought new 64-bit drivers for video and modem, and then install JUST the audio driver (which comes, actually, on the supplied cd with a version for 64bit).

ok your main chipset is the Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset
main 64 bit drivers for that can be found here.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_r...bmit=Go%21

download and install the inf file.
wireless is listed as Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
so these drivers should work that for you.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_r...bmit=Go%21

then try your otherdrivers from the cdrom again.

asus list vista 32 bit drivers for this laptop and can be found on asus downloads.
http://support.asus.com/download/downloa...uage=en-us
try to use that site and install the network card,  card ,bluetooth
64bit may even take the 32 bit drivers once the main chipset driver has been installed.

asus list a possible 4 drivers for the cam so its hard to pick one that could say try so it might be a case of try all 4 and see what one works for you.

i will keep looking and see what else i can find for you

Thank you for your support!
I will do my homework tonight and I will post my results.
quick update for you when i tried to install the soundcard driver listed at asus on my test machine it started the realtek hi def sound card install.

so the drivers listed here should work 100% with 64bit vista.

i will keep looking as well i should be able to find most of what your after

Thank you, you are very kind! Which makes me more unhappy with the Asus support - they are dumb as a 'ROCK SOLID'
I already done that drivers with a silly outcome: the OS shows the drivers perfectly installed but the speakers are dumb. If I put the laptop to sleep/hibernate, once it is awake I have sounds!!!
Since I read somewhere about conflicts between sound system and modem, I disabled the modem from device manager (in the bios they go together) - same behaviour.
Another point of concern is a ACPI/ATK0100 driver, required by some other applications. I think this driver could be envolved also in sound & sleep issues. I found a ATK0100 driver for vista 64 but it was designed for AMD. Still looking...
