Hello all,

i installed XP on my HP Pavilion DV6296ea notebook (default Vista was installed). It was hard to find the drivers because there where no XP drivers for this notebook on the HP web site.
Finally i found the most of them elsewhere but i can't still install the audio driver.
I found lots of drivers but no one agrees.

Conexant High Definition Audio with SmartCP

That's the name of the audio device. Everytime i try to install a driver for this device, the system starts to search and then "A device for this driver could not be found" message appears.
So i have brand new notebook but i can't hear it Sad
The modem driver is also not installed, maybe there is a connection between these two devices becuase the modem driver (on vista) is Conexant too (some thing like HD Conexant modem).

Thanks.
I have same problem ....
I have Amilo Li with Vista Basic , and I installed XP SP2.
I inserted driver disc and clicked update driver, and it says that there is no driver found although it's on CD.

I have the exact same problem with HP Pavilion dv6225us.
I was able to find all drivers but the audio. I tried installing a xp atch for the audio and then a driver from another laptop with same sound card. I have been googling about this for about 1 month.

any1?

try the drivers for the hp dv6365us

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...50&lang=en

one thing i must stress.

windows xp is getting old now , chipsets in new laptops are not supported by the built in drivers.
before you load any audio , gfx drivers its important that you find out what the main motherboard chipset is in your laptop and load the drivers.

xp will fail to load a audio or gfx driver if it don't know where to apply the driver too.
Hi guys.

I think I got the answer for it!!

I have Compaq Presario 571nr which has same audio cipset.

If you read the page under

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...28&lang=en

you can find the sentence ' "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio," or later, must be installed on the notebook BEFORE installing this SoftPaq'

which means your XP has to activate south bridge of you cipset.

you can find this file on the MS website.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835221

Install this driver first than install your driver.

PS. I used same way on the one of the Gateway Laptop and it worked, too!!
one thing i have run into with this problem..
what works for one person does not always work for another.

one thing any member trying to downgrade a hp laptop should note.
i have had more luck if you can match a early version with the chipset and cpu used in your own.

Hi

I had the same problem, but was finally able to resolve the problem. Go to HP site and search for the driver sp34200. If the driver does not install after running install the drive with the have disk option , then select audio, and point to the folder where the driver is. I spent several days trying many drivers that were suppose to work. Good luck.

Hi, guys.
I own dv9610us and had same problem, but with 7 hours of intense research and experiment, I have figured out how to install the Conexant High Definition Audio and modem in windows xp.

1. You have to download
"sp33867 or sp32646 - UAA"
"sp32483a - modem driver" and "sp32823 - audio driver"
from hp website (hp.com)

2. First install UAA - "sp33867". It will make window xp system recognize the high definition audio in device manager.

3. Try to install "sp32483a and sp32823". They don't install into your computer, but they will generate files under c:swsetup.

4. Go to device manager and right click the high definition audio and select the driver update. You choose option, "install from a list" and then select option, "don't search..." and press "next".
On the righthand corner, click "have disk" and click "browse".
You have to go "local c:" and look for folder name "swsetup".
Under this folder you have to go into "sp32823" folder and click open.
For final step, you will have warning but ignore this warning and install it. Then it will successfully install and make it work!!!

5. You do the same like step 4 for the modem. Only differece is the folder name!!! Look for "sp32483a"

I think the drivers are working fine. I have no problems so far.
I wish you good luck and I hope you resolve your problems
