Hello forum,

i bought a new notebook from HP, pavilion DV6200.
I want to install XP on it, but the hard disk is SATA and windox XP can't find a driver. So i need the driver for the SATA disk to install Windows XP.
The product code of the disk is ST9160821AS. It's a 160 GB Seagate disk. I couldn't found it anywhere on the net.

Thanks.
the driver should be part of your restore cd's

if your trying to install a normal windows xp disk it may well fail.

there is a very long list at hp for the DV6200 if you let me know the full model number i can see what chipset its using as long as hp tell me i might be able to find a sata/raid driver that way for you.
Hello,

first of all, thanks for your attention.
The problem is like following. There is already Vista installed on the machine, its working properly. So the restore DVD is for Vista.
Now i want to install XP on the second partition. So i need the SATA driver during the XP installation.
HP Pavilion dv6296ea Notebook PC
is the full model number. I couldn't find the driver for XP.
It would be very nice if you can find the driver.

Have a nice day.

hp are listing the chipset as a intel mobile 945gm.

try the sata/raid drivers listed at intel.

that may be enough to get windows xp to start its setup.

now i did notice the sound you have and i know only too well that the Conexant High-Definition Audio has problems under windows xp
hp are not listing the xp driver for it for your model so it may be worth your while having a quick read of a work round i done on my own site for someone.
