Hello guys, I sure hope you can help me; I bought a computer and found I couldn't connect it with my other computer because it runs windows 2000 and my old one is windows xp so I put windows xp on it and now there are a few missing drivers including my ethernet controller. If I could get on the internet I could probably get the others, I bought a Dell-Optiplex GX270 Pentium 4 HT. So does anyone think they can help me, to late to turn back now lol.

Okay when I go to device manager under properties it says unknown manufacturer, location PCI bus1, device 12, function 0 if that means anything.
what is the service tag number on that dell ?
you can find it by looking on the side or back of the machine.
enter that number here and see if it calls up a network driver if it does thats the ethernet controller your missing.

How did you figure it out? I have the same problem.
look at the list at dell for a network / lan driver
that is the common name for a ethernet driver
