one thing to check in the bios setup make sure primary IDE is enabled. it may also be listed as on-chip ide in that case make sure its set to both. Also check in the standard CMOS setup to make sure that the drives are set to auto. other than that check the cable.
After that the only theory here is that the connector on the motherboard is blown it happens not often but once in a while.

also try to reload your bios defaults just in case you have had a virus try and attack your bios.
