Here is my issue:

I just bought a new Toshiba Laptop – model: P105-S6197 – and I want to create a dual boot OS with Vista (Shipped with this OS) and XP Pro. Well, Toshiba does not make drivers for XP if the system was shipped with Vista. Vista will not run all of the applications a need and I really need XP loaded.

I loaded a fresh copy of XP pro and was able to locate all of the drivers I needed through Intel – chipset, graphics, NIC, and WLAN. The only driver I have left to find is the Conexant HD audio driver - Conexant "Venice" 5045 HD Audio.

Things I have tried:
- Checked Toshiba’s web-site for the audio driver of the P105-S6197 system – no luck
- Downloaded every audio driver for all of the P105 series laptops – no luck
- Tried to download the driver from Conexant’s web-site – they only have modem drivers
- Used the Vista Driver – This works but no sound is played – device mgr show no more yellow ! sign and the system thinks its happy. In the control panel under sound and audio devices it says: no audio device. I also get an error in the event viewer: The XAudioService service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
- Tried using the HP audio driver in this forum: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?pid=8701
- Called Toshiba’s tech support who told me I should have bought an XP system.

Please help me find this driver! If you need me to get you any info from my system I can do that for you.

Thanks for you help!
I found a Conexant driver supplied by another manufacturer (gigabyte) and it might work, but I can't guarantee it. I also couldn't find anything direct from toshiba, but hopefully this is generic enough to work:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Noteb...uctID=2039
It should be the first one in the list there.

The worst it could do is make your sound continue not working, so you don't have much to lose Smile Let us know if it works.

It was worth a shot but still no luck! Thanks for that try!
any idea what chipset you have in that laptop ?

you may find its classed as Conexant but may well be built into the south bridge of your chipset.

if you can find what chipset you have i will take a look and see if that is the case or not.
Hi, I'm having the same problem except my Toshiba is a Sattellite P105-S9339, I got rid of Vista because of all the bugs and installed XP Pro SP2. Everything works with the exception of the same audio card as posted above. Chip Set is Mobile Intel 945PM Express, I tried using Driver Agent and they could'nt come up with a driver that worked.

Thanks
Hello everybody!!
I have the same problem, and I got a partial solution. I also installed XP in my toshiba P105-S6177 (P100).
I have sound!!, it works!, but, when you restart the laptop the sound does not work any more, but, settings still looks normal.

Two steps:
1-I installed the VISTA conexant driver on the XP SP2 OS system (I looks good, but, without sound).
2-After that, I updated the driver manually (device manager) I forced it, using the Conexant HD XP driver from HP (SP33443 driver)

It works, but, Windows XP has some kind of "security protection system" at restarting. I dont know what I must do, bu surelly some of you using this info can help to fix our problem.

Thank you!!
for those members that are feeling brave try this work round.
try this driver listed at hp for your sound under windows xp.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...28&lang=en

now that driver list's you will need the m/s universal driver installed first and that one can be found here.

I don't have the time myself but if you search toshiba for a older model of your laptop that came shipped with windows xp and the same sound card try those drivers as 9 times out of 10 they work.

Hello

I have also been looking for an audio driver for the Toshiba P105-6197 for XP. I haive tried the likns provided in this thread but no luck. Does anyone have an answer. Kwin73, did you ever get one that worked?

Thanks
I'm currently in the same situation as the original poster on this thread. I have a client that does not wish to run Vista and chooses to run XP Pro instead. After many hours of fighting this issue I was able to get sound working on a Toshiba P105-S6197.

(caution: the following fix involves using the 5047 waikiki driver, it may not be an optimal solution. I take no responsibility for any damages, loss of data, consciousness, bowel control, blah, blah, blah.....)

Here's what I did.

From device manager, right click on the audio device that is listed in Other Devices, choose Properties, then click on the Details tab. From the Details tab, select "Hardware Ids" in the drop-down menu, you should see an entry identical to this one

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5045&SUBSYS_1179FF31

make note of the number following SUBSYS if yours is different than the one above.

Close audio properties.

Download the following driver from Toshiba:
sp105audiox
If that link doesn't work, try this one:
Alternate

Unpack the executable to a folder using winRar, winZip, 7zip, etc...
Inside the folder you just unpacked you will find a file called "BD1HDAa.inf", right click on this file and choose "Open".

Once inside the inf file, look for a header called "[Conexant]".
Under that header, change "Waikiki5047" to "Venice5045", and near the end of the same line you will find another instance of 5047, change it to 5045 as well. Also, the number at the end of this line needs to match the number you found in the properties of the unrecognized sound card. (The number I had you make note of earlier)

Save and exit.

Return to device manager and Right-click on the unrecognized audio device, choose Properties, then click on the Reinstall driver button.

Choose "No, not at this time" at the following prompt, then click next.

Choose "Install from a specific location", then click next.

Browse for the folder that contains the sp105audiox folder, then click OK, then click Next. An audio driver should be detected at this point. You may have to tell windows to install the driver even though it is not certified.

Once windows has finished copying files, you should have a working sound card at this point. (The listing for the sound card in device manager will look a bit unusual though)

I hope this information is of some use.
