I've an old 486 pc that I try to use for A small linux version. But after I did a "format C" the pc don't recognices the cdrom device. What can I do to restore support for the cdromdrive?
what is the make of the cdrom ? and what version of linux are you running ?

You shouldn't need to "format c" to install Linux. I don't know of any linux installers that run from DOS. What you will probably need is a bootable CD with the linux installer on it. Put it in the CD drive, reboot the computer, set the BIOS to boot from the CD, and then run the installation.
