My old hard drive fried, so I was forced to get a new one. I installed 98se on here and everything is fine accept the resolution on the screen wont get larger then 640 x 480 and only 16 colors.
Can someone please coach me on how to fix this.
you need to install your video driver in order to get higher resolution.
what is the make and model of your video card ?
if you have onboard video what is the make and model of your motheboard ?
and what windows are you running?
the above qustions will help us find the correct driver for you .

before you load any drivers just make sure your direct x is up to date that can be downloaded from this link.

then go to this link and down load the via 4 in one driver and the vga driver install the 4 in one first restart the system when asked then install the vga driver.

msi are a bit slow at the moment but the link is working.

Oh wait I have a question I figured it would have fixed its self when I got this done, but my sound still aint workin. Can you helpme with that too, please.
All I can really say is that in my device manager under other devices with the yellow ! mark. It says PCI multimedia device. Im guessin thas why the audio aint workin. when I go to the multimedia section in the control panel, the audio section is dim, as in I cant click on anything.
no problem go back to the msi link above and download and install the via ac97 sound drivers.
as long as your using the onboard sound that driver should work.
