what version of windows 98 are you running ? 98 or 98se ?

the reason being some cards like this will not work with 98 only 98se

make sure you are downloading the correct version number for the card.
three versions are listed at d-link
this link will explan what to look for on the card.
http://support.dlink.com/products/revision.asp

click the correct version number and it will take you to the downloads.
you will also see a download for a quick install guilde, download that and have a read.
if you still get problems post back

You make a very valid point I never thought of . I'm using 98 not 98se

I m wondering if I download it on my XP machine (to a CD of course) if it would work so I can download on my laptop.

Do you know where I can get the 98se program?

http://support.dlink.com/products/view.a...630%5FrevC

all drivers are listed there both for 98 and xp.

yes i have a feeling your version of windows 98 may well be too old for this card. should be able to pick up a cheap version of 98se now on ebay.
