ok please start again but this time please post back with
1. your wireless card make and model
2. sound card make and model.
3. make and model number of your motherboard. ( if known )
4. make and model number of pc ( if shop bought )
what happens sometimes is windows xp thinks it knows better then you and will install its own driver over the top of a third party driver, this will stop a device dead in its tracks.
one of xp's favorite things is to install a cmedia sound card driver on a sis sound card and i have seen it do it to a realtrek chip as well.
go onto device manager.
right click on the problem and choose update driver.
choose no don't connect to the net and click next.
on the next screen choose install from a list or specific location. click next.
on the next screen choose don't search i will choose the driver to install , click next
on the screen it opens it should give you a list of the drivers installed on the computer that match that hardware. if your old driver is still in the machine it will be listed just highlight it and click next.
if you do not see your old driver listed and you still have the cdrom that came with the device.
click have disk and put the disk in the computer.
windows will do the rest from that point on.
restart the computer when its finished.
now if your wireless card is not working windows will class that as a network adapter not a pci simple communication controller that is a modem of some sort if your motherboard has a built on modem windows has found it and is asking you for the driver.
I know this seems alot to take in but once you have done it once or twice it won't seem that hard.
if you don't understand what i am going on about post back and i will try to be a little more clear.
