Hello,
Not sure if this is even possible but I was wondering... I have two desktops, both have wireless routers (one linksys one netgear) but only one desktop is connected directly to a cable modem. My question is this: Can I use my netgear wireless router on my second desktop to receive internet comm from the other desktop that is hook up to the linksys and internet? They are in different rooms and I would have to have the cable company come out and rewire a completely new room. So can I use my wireless router to receive internet on a desktop in another room?

Thanks for anyone's help!

Im not positive i understand your question but this is what i got, your basicicly asking this: can you run a cable from the output or one router and use it as an input for a second?

The answer is this: It depends on the router. certain routers have inputs for LAN cables. If this is the type of router you have then yes you can. But, if the only input you have if the direct cable (one plugged into the first router) then no you cannot.

I hope it helps :D

Basicly what you are saying is you want to be able to share you internet connection and use file and printer sharing.

the answer to your question is yes. you need 1 router. and a wireless reciver. plug the wireless reciver card into your desktop. install it and it should search for wireless connections.

Absolutely no problem doing this

in my old appartment i ran cat5 cable along the conduits for the telephone cables to every room. where the internet port was i have a 6 port router from this i ran a main cable from this to every room then in every room i had a 8 port autosensing 10/100 switched hub.

in the rooms i wanted wireless connection( main room /bedroom) i added a wireless access point straight into each switch and to a few of the rooms i added a couple of print servers

in the router set the DHCP server up for a suitable block of IP addresses , set every pc to auto assign an IP etc. and you are good to go. every PC with internet every PC able to print on any printer and access files on shared drives.
